Stacey L. Supple

A Mom Inspired

Stacey L. Supple received her undergraduate degree in Sociology. After working as a paralegal and contemplating law school, Stacey realized that her heart was in the human services field. She returned to school, obtaining her MSW in 2012, and worked as a dialysis unit social worker for 2 years before learning about Skyler’s health issues. Since then, her degree has been helpful in navigating a medically complex life.

The Re-learning

Re-learning about the world through the lens of a parent and via Skyler’s experiences as a child with multiple disabilities has reignited Stacey’s inner advocate and inspired her writing. She endeavors to put good out into the universe, give back, find joy and gratitude - “rainbow moments” – wherever possible in order to ride out the difficult “raindrop moments.”

The Fun Bit

Stacey loves Skyler, her husband and friends, coffee, tea, pizza, Skyler, meditation, yoga, Skyler, comfy clothes (ahem…sweatpants), strawberries, dark chocolate, cardigans, anything purple, and oh yeah - Skyler!

Her Muse, Sky

Skyler has a rare and undiagnosed genetic condition. Born full term, she was just shy of three pounds and spent her first three months at Boston Children’s where she underwent a cardiac repair for tetralogy of fallot with pulmonary atresia and VSD (hole in the heart). She had a g-tube placed prior to discharge because she was too weak to eat by mouth; she still uses her g-tube today. Skyler also has cortical/cerebral visual impairment (CVI), bilateral hearing loss, epilepsy, cerebral palsy, and global developmental delays. She is non-verbal and requires assistances with walking and all activities of daily living.

A few of her many talents

Skyler is silly, mischievous, affectionate, determined and smart. She loves music, dancing, school, hugs and her family. She brings absolute joy – and a newfound awareness – to everyone who meets her.
